Crate Training a Puppy at Night: Easy Guide

Crate training at night helps with potty training, safety, and boundaries. Here’s a simple nighttime routine:

Step-by-Step:

  1. Place crate near your bed at first
  2. Use a soft towel or worn t-shirt inside
  3. Do a short walk or potty break before bedtime
  4. Say a calming phrase like “Bedtime” when placing them in

If They Cry:

  • Wait 5 minutes before responding
  • Use soft shushing sounds, don’t remove them right away

Potty Breaks:

  • Very young pups (8–12 weeks): set alarms every 3–4 hours
  • Older than 12 weeks: can sleep 5–6 hours

Crate time at night becomes peaceful after 1–2 weeks of consistency!
